DERMAPLANING

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a safe, painless and highly effective manual physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to exfoliate the skin's surface, removing the top-most layers of keratinized (dead) skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). The procedure can be performed monthly, with no downtime post-treatment.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

The process of removing dead skin cells and exfoliating the top portion of the epidermis is stimulating to the deeper layers of skin (dermis) and triggers the cell regeneration process. This process causes your skin to produce more collagen, resulting in improved skin firmness, tone & texture.

The removal of keratinzed (dead) skin cells also allows products to better penetrate skin and further treat an individuals skin care concerns.

Dermaplaning is also excellent to rid the face of excess fine hairs, which can often accumulate dirt and oil and can hinder smooth application of product/makeup. Contrary to popular belief, vellus hairs, as opposed to terminal hair, will not grow back thicker or darker. Exfoliation of dead cells along with the removal of fine hairs results in healthier, brighter skin that has a smoother look and feel.

  • Quick & Immediate results. Skin will look smooth, soft, fresh & clean immediately after procedure

  • Provides immediate skin tightening & collagen production

  • Provides deeper product penetration

  • Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt/oil and provides smooth canvas for makeup application

  • Promotes smoother skin

  • Safe procedure for removing dead skin cells and “peachfuzz”

  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars

  • Diminishes the look of fine lines

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation

  • Safe for nearly all skin types (other than pustular acne/excessively oily)

  • No downtime

  • Can be combined with customized procedures such as facials, peels and serums for superior results

Why Choose Dermaplaning Over Other Exfoliation Methods?

Dermaplaning is safe for nearly all skin types and will yield immediate results with no downtime. Unlike other exfoliation methods, Dermaplaning has the added and exclusive benefit of removing vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face resulting in unbeatable results.

Even sensitive skin types (including rosacea) are candidates making Dermaplaning the most sought after & popular option.

Dermaplaning can also be successfully combined with additional customised treatments to enhance the benefits & results.

Who Should Consider Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning_28951870_xl.jpg

Dermaplaning is an excellent option for nearly everyone! Especially effective on those with aging or dry/ rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles & uneven skin tone (hyperpigmentation).

Extremely beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age.

Unlike other exfoliation treatments, Dermaplaning can be successfully performed on those with sensitive skin types (product sensitive, rosacea, etc) as the process is manual and the depth of exfoliation can be controlled.

Dermaplaning is also safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels (peels penetrate skin to act at the cellular level, thus are contraindicated).

Who is NOT a Candidate for Dermaplaning

Generally, those with very oily, active pustular acne as well as anyone with excessive thick, dark terminal facial hair should avoid this procedure. A consult is always recommended to discuss skin concerns and best treatment options.

How Often is Dermaplaning Performed?

The skin should complete its normal rejuvenation cycle before next treatment so it is advised to leave at least 4 weeks in between treatments.

What to Expect After the Procedure

Instant results and no downtime. Although spectacular results are seen immediately, the stimulating/regenerating process generally takes 3-5 days to produce the maximum benefit. So…you’ll look amazing immediately after and even more so a few days later!!

Some clients experience very mild dryness with slight peeling after a few days but this is normal and the process working.

POST CARE is important! You will achieve the best results possible with an appropriate home care routine.

Contrary to popular belief, there is NO NEED TO WORRY about the hair on your face getting any darker.  Since Dermaplaning only targets the vellus hair (peachfuzz) the hair will grow back the same size and color at its normal cycle.  It is physiologically impossible for the hair to grow back thicker and dark, so no need to panic and worry.
