NANO BROWS

What are Nano Brows?

The Nano Brow technique takes Microblading to the next level and offers more precise, longer lasting, uber-realistic eyebrows.

Also known as 'hybrid brows or 3D brows'. This method is more defined than microblading and a great alternative for clients who have had problems retaining pigment after microblading (Oily skin types/Clients outdoors often) and those looking for more realistic looking hair strokes.

Using a machine and an ultra fine needle, I create realistic hair like strokes to create eyebrows. The technique uses a tiny flexible needle and an advanced digital pigmentation machine to “tattoo”

thin precise ‘hair strokes’ onto the skin that mimic natural brow hair.

The technique is a less invasive procedure than microblading, which is a manual technique of  “carving” pigment into the skin via a manual, hand-held tool.

Nano Needling is the newest trend in micro-pigmenation and quickly achieving more popularity than Microblading due to the less invasive nature and superior healed results.  The pigment used in this procedure is a semi-permanent pigment (similar to those used in microblading) and although implanted deeper into the skin for better results, a lifetime commitment is not required. Results will last longer than those of Microblading (up to 3-5 years opposed to 9-15 months) and require fewer touch-ups but will fade over time allowing for trend/shape modifications as they arise.

The Nano Needling technique is an advanced skill within the realm of micro-pigmentation also known as cosmetic tattooing and permanent makeup. This treatment is essentially a form of tattooing however differs somewhat to a traditional permanent, artistic tattoo.

***PLEASE NOTE***

I use only the very best equipment & products for all of my procedures. I use the most advanced device & pigments available from Nouveau Contour. Headquartered and manufactured in Europe,  Nouveau Contour is the premier global manufacturer of professional micropigmentation devices and products. The innovator and knowledge leader in the permanent & semi-permanent makeup industry, providing the very best quality equipment, needles and pigments. With Nouveau Contour the standards for precision and quality are brought to the ultimate level and I will not settle for anything less.

How is Micro-Pigmentation Different From a Permanent “Traditional” Artistic Tattoo?

  • The machinery used for semi permanent cosmetic tattooing is specific to the technique and generally has a lower frequency, so it will not penetrate as deep into the skin layers.

  • Cosmetic tattoo is much more superficial than a regular tattoo.

  • We use semi-permanent pigments NOT inks to project a cosmetic design. A pigment has the ability to fade out of the skin overtime.

How Long Will They Last?

Nano Needling can last up to between 3-5 years and usually only requires 1 touch-up or “Perfecting Session” (although colour boost may be necessary depending on clients skin and/or desire.

Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle affect longevity of both results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color and fade naturally away with time. For areas such as brows, this allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change.

Manly Man Brows / Eyebrows for Men

Semi-Permanent Makeup is not just for the ladies! You might be surprised, but a lot of men also look for solutions to thinning, sparse or uneven eyebrows so that they will still look natural and 'manly'. My hair stroke treatments for men (Nano & Microblading) can help even the manliest of men achieve the look they want.

Treatment Time

calgary, dermaplaning, pretty esthetics, facial treatments, eyebrows

First time appointments – Please allow 3 – 3.5 hours (It is of upmost importance to me that you are happy with the shape & colour of your new brows, the majority of the initial appointment is spent measuring and creating your new set. Not all appointments will last the full 3.5 hours but please plan ahead to ensure we have the time we need for perfection)

“Perfecting Session” (initial touch up) - allow 1.5 hour (I recommend booking this session at the 5-6 week mark to achieve the best possible shape & colour)

“Annual Refresh” - 1.5 – 2 hours (slightly more time than the “perfecting session” to allow for modest shape alterations due to advancing trends, etc)

Is the Procedure Painful?

A topical numbing cream is applied to the brows prior to and throughout the procedure for maximum comfort.  Individual pain tolerance differs but most clients report no to minimal discomfort. Certain factors such as medications and hormone levels (menstruating) can affect level of tenderness. It is a less invasive procedure than Microblading and more comfortable for some clients.

If you are pain sensitive, please contact me for additional tips on easing discomfort during treatment.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Other than minimal swelling & redness, there is typically zero downtime (case to case), however the brow will take approximately one week to fully heal assuming after-care instructions followed correctly.  The brow may soften in color by up to 40-50%. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed.

WHAT IS THE PERFECTING SESSION?
The Perfecting Session, done within 5-8 weeks (no longer than 2 months) of the initial treatment, is extremely important to ensure perfect results.  We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed.

Pre & Post Care

In order for your new brows to heal properly (and look their best) these Pre & Post Care Instructions found below are of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE! Pre-Care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessing bleeding during the procedure can lead to poor results!

NANO NEEDLING PRE-CARE

  • Do not work out 48 hours before procedure.

  • NO alcohol or caffeine 48 hours before procedure (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!).

  • Avoid sun and tanning on your face two weeks prior to procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure.

  • Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements two weeks prior to procedure.

  • Discontinue Retin-A, Chemical and Laser Peels, Microdermabrasions, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), and any chemical exfoliant or "brightening" skincare atleast 6 weeks prior (Once your brows have healed, you must avoid use of these products on forehead area procedure to prevent premature fading).

  • Botox and filler on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 2 months prior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables.

  • Avoid the following herbs and spices 48 hours before procedure: ginger, cinnamon, garlic, black and cayenne pepper.

  • No brow waxing, tinting, or threading one week prior (the more natural hair growth you have, the better!

  • Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

NANO NEEDLING POST-CARE

  • Allow eyebrows to completely dry before applying ointment (pat dry with paper towel or air dry)

  • Once fully dry, apply a thin layer of supplied after-care ointment or Aquaphor (rice size amount on each brow)

  • Repeat above steps 2-3 times per day for 7-10 days after service.

  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure.  Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyper pigmentation and scarring.

  • Avoid pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers and/or hot baths for 10 days.

  • Avoid sweating on your face for 10 days. Sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.

  • Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.

  • NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for 10 days.

  • After 10 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.

  • Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.

  • Avoid Retin-A, Chemical Peels, Laser Treatments, Microdermabrasions, and/or anything to treat hyperpigmentation around the brow area once healed to prevent fading of your brow tattoo.

  • Inform your MRI technician that you have had a tattoo.

Please note: Eyebrows will appear darker, bolder, and sharper due to natural healing for the first week. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.

After you've healed

  • Brow tattoos can last up to between 3-5 years depending on client’s lifestyle, skin type and aftercare.

  • Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment.

  • Always apply sunscreen (50 SPF or greater) on brow area once completely healed.

  • Maintain removal of unwanted brow hair outside of your tattooed brow design by tweezing, threading, waxing, or razoring.

  • Do not do laser around your brow area (IPL). Some lasers may change the color of the pigment.

  • Additional brow makeup application may still be required post tattoo to achieve your desired look.

  • For further sun protection wear hats and sunglasses.

  • Yearly touchups are recommended to maintain your results.

  • Avoid using chemical skin exfoliants on the brows and forehead area. Use of these products will cause premature fading and tattoo discoloration. Examples may include but are not limited to: Glycolic Acid, Hydroquinone, Retinol, Retin A, Vitamin C, "peels" or "brightening."

  • Any service or product used to treat hyper pigmentation on the forehead and eye area should be avoided.

Attention Please: I strongly advise prospective new clients to book their appointments at least 3-4 months in advance of Vacations, Weddings, and Special Occasions. This allows adequate time for healing of both your Initial Appointment as well as a Touch-Up Enhancement Session 5-8 Weeks prior. To have perfect brows it is a multi-step process. Dream brows cannot be achieved in just one session. Some clients need more than two sessions to achieve their desire density and shape.
